Midtown Neighbors On Alert About Suspicious Activity Near Apartment Construction

Neighbors in midtown Memphis once again alerting their neighbors about suspicious activity. The latest incident happened at apartments under construction off Rembert between Union and Madison.

The area is no stranger to people getting into cars and rummaging through, but now neighbors say someone is trying to get inside nearby renovated apartments.

Neighbors are posting on NextDoor, letting people know that someone is in the area jiggling door knobs and then trying to get inside. The apartments have extra locks on them while contractors are completing work.

It’s unclear if the person trying to get inside is a squatter or someone simply trying to get out of the cold.

Either way, people who spoke to Local 24 News off camera say they want others to be alert and aware of their surroundings.

One person said they believe the individual seen in this area may also be responsible for petty crimes in the Central Gardens area.

Police say if you’re truly concerned, snap a clear photo and call police so they can take a report.
