Thursday was move in day for families at the FedEx Family House. It’s a home away from home for out-of-town families whose children are receiving treatment at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
FedEx Freight team members unloaded kitchen supplies, furniture, and accessories into the newly expanded facility. The $12-million expansion added 21 suites and 30 hotel-style rooms.
“Now these families have more rooms available for families who have children across the street at the hospital. They come here to have obviously a high-quality, great place to stay,” says Doak Slay, Regional VP of FedEx Freight. “They don’t have to worry about food. We got the kitchens here, the rooms, just gives them a piece of mind a home away from home.”
Thursday was also the first project by FedEx Freight’s community resource team.
