Memphis Police are asking the public for information after a 19-year-old man was found dead following a “bump” and robbery.
It happened Sunday, July 29th about 2:30 a.m. in the 4700 block of Violet. A man told police he and 19-year-old Mauricio Merlos were in a truck when they were bumped from behind by a black car. He told officers when they got out to check, a suspect with his face covered robbed them. The man told police he heard a gunshot and could not find Merlos.
Later, a homeowner called police saying he found a body in his backyard in the 4700 block of Violet. Police identified the body as Merlos, who died at the scene from a gunshot to the upper torso.
