Families hold "rosary rally" outside Northside Forsyth

Pinecrest Academy students, staff, and parents caravan around the hospital, praying and waving to medical staff.

CUMMING, Ga. — For the past two Saturdays, members of Pinecrest Academy have held a 'rosary rally' outside Northside Hospital Forsyth to pray its staff and patients.

Pinecrest Academy communications director, Vivian Heard says participants plan to hold the prayer rally every Saturday at 10 am for "as long we need to".

Heard says with permission from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, participants remain in their vehicle while being led through the liturgy by Charlene Dougal, the school's director of advancement. The group then circles the hospital in their vehicles praying for its health care workers and COVID-19 patients.

"We all had our windows down, rosaries in hand, and followed along in our cars. Afterward, we put our hazard lights on and drove around the hospital buildings, praying and waving to nurses we saw in the parking lot," says Heard.

Pinecrest Academy parents Marybel and Bruce Carlisle have parked their vehicle outside the front of the hospital with a giant sign saying "Praying for You" that has been captured and re-posted by medical staff.

"Last Saturday, a nurse came outside and gave Marybel a prayer card that she and her nurses are giving to all of the COVID-19 patients. It's just a beautiful thing," added Heard.
