MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America ended their four-day workshop with a valued lesson in home ownership.
The event ran from Thursday til Sunday at the Crown Plaza East Hotel on Thousands Oaks in East Memphis.
The main focus of the event is to help homeowners with financial planning for both new home mortgages and refinance current home mortgages, regardless of their credit score.
Local 24 News spoke with one woman who says the non-profit workshop helped her go from homeless to homeowner.
“I was approved Friday night and I had my certificate to prove it and I thank God for NACA program being there locally, we needed this,” said Vashti Cole, a new homeowner.
Participants worked with NACA housing counselors to find the best interest rate.
Organizers say overall the four-day workshop was a success.
