OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (localmemphis.com)- The National Weather Service has confirmed that two tornadoes tore through DeSoto County early Saturday morning.
Our Drone 24 captured communities across DeSoto County devastated by the storm.
Residents say the clean up is going to take a while but they are working together to make it happen.
The DeSoto County Emergency Services tells Local 24 News it has crews out accessing damage and it’s worse than they expected. Also, they were lucky it was only two non-critical injuries.
A homeowner told Local 24 News that he’s lucky to have a strong community that’s willing to help one another in this time of need.
“It starts to kind of soak in. What you’ve lost and what’s gone and then you get to thinking too that no one got injured. So no injuries and if someone looks at the damage you would wonder why there aren’t any injuries but there’s not any personal injuries and everyone is okay and the first thing I went through was calling my neighbors.” said Tommy Reel.
Crews will work around the clock to restore power lines and make sure people are in safe places in the upcoming days.
