In an unlikely spot in downtown Memphis, you’ll find the city’s next iconic music moment happening: Old Dominick Distillery, a Memphis original deeply connected to our city’s entrepreneurial past and its innovative future, launches its Pure Memphis Music series this month.

Kicking off the series will be John Nemeth & The Blue Dreamers, whose latest album Feelin’ Freaky was produced by Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars) and recorded at the Dickinson family’s Zebra Ranch and Memphis’ own Royal Studios.

The Old Dominick story is Pure Memphis, and the musicians presented in this space will be, too. They may be born-and-raised Memphians (like Luther Dickinson, who plays the series March 22), or they may have journeyed to Memphis to record and capture that something-in-the-water, like Nemeth and Jim Lauderdale, who’ll play the series February 22. Each story we share will be different, but they will all have a meaningful connection to Memphis.

The Pure Memphis series aims to create a second-to-none experience for both artist and audience, and the focus on excellent curation will bring you back even when you’re unfamiliar with the artist on the bill – perhaps like The Pistol & The Queen, who bring us the blues February 8, or Talibah Safiya, whose neosoul sounds will fill the room March 8. The affordable ticket includes the perfect liquor pairing – an Old Dominick cocktail – and an early evening concert that will start and end on time. Doors for each concert will open at 6:30 p.m., with music beginning promptly at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the Pure Memphis Music Series featuring John Nemeth (January 25) and Jim Lauderdale (February 22) are on sale now at olddominick.com/events. The series will take over the distillery’s upstairs space the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
