MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- Some lucky young basketball players got the opportunity to meet former WNBA players and elite college players.
She Got Game Women’s Basketball League Opening Day was Sunday. The program focuses on exposing and encouraging female basketball players, school age to college in the areas of basketball, beauty and academics.
Sunday’s event benefited the league’s 6th Woman Scholarship Award which is presented to a high school player in Shelby County.
“We’re giving back proceeds from our league go towards our 6th Woman Scholarship,” said Co-Founder of She Got Game, Celia Newman. “It’s the girl the heart and soul of the team, she comes off the bench and February, we gave away a thousand dollar scholarship so its a great job that we’re doing and we’re giving the money back to our community.”
Sunday’s event also featured a 3-point contest and skills challenge contest for the young women.
