Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new scenic section of the Wolf River Greenway on Saturday.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new scenic section of the Wolf River Greenway on Saturday.
The new mile-long section of the trail is located east of North Highland and south of Stage James Road in Raleigh.
The newest area includes two pedestrian bridges, picnic tables, and views of a 25-acre lake.
“It is an opportunity to observe the natural beauty here and to actually get outside and get a little exercise, put down the phones and the iPads and laptops and the computers and go to a place that probably doesn’t have Wi-Fi and enjoy some time alone with your thoughts or with your family and make a memory and just really enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors,” said Mayor Harris.
After the ribbon cutting, Mayor Harris invited everyone to walk the new trail and enjoy the neighborhood festival nearby.
