For two days this week, the Southaven Police Department is offering safe surrenders for anyone with outstanding warrants.
If you have a warrant for contempt of court, you can pay $200 to dismiss your warrant. The department will also allow you to work out a court-approved payment plan if you can’t pay all at once. If you can’t pay, your warrant will remain active.
Southaven Police Captain Mark Little says dozens of people have already come in to pay off their warrants.
“We’ve had anywhere from 20 to 60 people come in in those two days and get their warrants taken care of and dismissed. They’re not arrested on ‘em. They work out a plan with the court to get their fines paid or whatever is out there to be done and they can you know go on with life,”
says Capt. Little.
Southaven police offered safe surrenders Monday, and will offer another safe surrender Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
