Special Giveaways and Events At Sunday’s Tigers Basketball G

The Memphis Tigers men’s basketball team want fans to fill FedExForum for their final two home games this season. One way the team is doing that includes a giveaway that should be music to your ears.

The first 5,000 fans to Sunday’s home game against Houston will receive a pair of earbuds emblazoned with the Memphis Tigers logo.

University of Memphis Athletic Director Thomas Bowen says the giveaway is the school’s way of saying thank you to students and fans.

As part of Black History Month, there will also be a special halftime presentation for Herb Hilliard, the Tigers’ first African-American basketball player.

“[Hilliard’s] involved in many, many different projects and different boards and has represented Memphis both as a great student athlete and as an alum and an ambassador for the university,” says Bowen. “We felt it was time to recognize him publicly and we wanted to do it at a very prestigious game and we knew Sunday’s game would be that kind of game.”

Hilliard played for the Tigers from 1967 to 1969.

Tip-off for Sunday’s game against Houston at FedExForum is 4:00 p.m.
