(SHELBY COUNTY D.A. NEWS RELEASE) – A Parkway Village teen pled guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder and robbery related to the shooting death in 2017 of a man outside a service station in southeast Memphis, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Lavon Williams, 19, was sentenced to 30 years in prison by Criminal Court Judge John Campbell. He was 17 at the time of the incident.
On Jan. 29, 2017, police were called to a service station in the 3200 block of Ridgeway Road at Knight Arnold Extended where they found 23-year-old Nicholas Sutton suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Two codefendants – Lareco Wilson and Teriaco Gilkey, both 18 – have pending charges and will be in court June 5. They were 16 at the time of the murder and robbery.
