Hardin County deputies are searching for whoever stole batteries off fire equipment, leaving it unable to respond to a house fire.
Investigators say Hardin County volunteer firefighters were responding to a house fire at one of their own firefighter’s homes about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, when they discovered someone had broken into the District 15 (Hookers Bend Community) fire station. The thieves stole batteries off the tanker truck, as well as a chainsaw, forceable entry saw, and a portable radio.
The fire at house was able to be contained by other responding units.
Investigators believed the theft happened sometime between noon on Sunday and Tuesday when they were called.
