Local 24 Cares is the media sponsor of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign. And they need your donations to help local children.
Toys for Tots has come a long way in a short amount of time, after not having a space to store toys just weeks ago. The space now looks more like Santa’s workshop.
A lot of work still needs to be done. They’re behind schedule. And donations are still being collected and delivered to the warehouse.
Volunteers admit they’re scrambling to get toys to nearly 20,000 Mid-South children. But they’re working around the clock, determined to give families a Merry Christmas.
“We’re behind the curve, but I got a great group of volunteers and we’re gonna hit the ground running,” says Carrol Howard with Toys for Tots.
“They will not be without, no they will not be without,” says volunteer Ina Wiehl. “We have to make sure the kids are taken care of.”
If you haven’t donated toys yet you’ve still got time. You can also come out to the Geico in Wolf River Commons on South Germantown Parkway for our Toys for Tots toy drive. We’ll be there Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to noon collecting toys.
Help us make this Christmas a special one for children across the Mid-South.
