Have you ever wanted to cuddle a turkey? Adeline is the feathered ambassador of Animal Cruelty Prevention Month. Friday, the Gentle Barn Foundation stopped at the National Civil Rights Museum to share Adeline’s experience with Memphis.
The Gentle Barn Foundation wants to let people know turkeys are intelligent and affectionate animals.
“At the Gentle Barn, we save animals from horrendous situation like slaughter and cruelty,” says Ellie Laks, Founder of The Gentle Barn Foundation. “We bring them into the Gentle Barn, we rehabilitate them, and then they pay it forward by helping at risk and inner city children heal… We’re working with children who don’t believe they have value, so when they have love from Adeline, they feel like they have something to offer to the world.”
Adeline was rescued by the foundation in 2015. The foundation works with special needs children, war veterans, and patients with Alzheimer.
