Local good news, making sure students have what they need to succeed in school
100 volunteers from businesses including FedEx stuffed more than a thousand backpacks with school supplies and hygiene kits.
Those backpacks were delivered to Booker T. Washington High School and LaRose Elementary.
The schools are located in one of the poorest zip codes in Memphis.
Rachel Kesselman, Communications Advisor with FedEx said, ” 38126 is one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in the Memphis community and we are working with them over the next five years reduce poverty by over five percent.”
The back to school project also provided school uniforms and school supplies to teachers
