2019 will mark the 4th year of business for Mempops. Business has been good, and that’s become a problem.
Production of the frozen treats had, at times, hampered the company’s ability to keep the freezers full on busy days. That’s why owner Chris Taylor has recently decided to purchase and renovate a portion of the building at 3664 Summer Ave., which will become their production kitchen.
He says the more than 2000 square-foot space will allow them to make the mixes for the frozen treats. The pop mix will then be taken to the retail locations, where they will be frozen and bagged in store.
More production means more opportunities. Taylor hopes the new production facility will allow Mempops to branch out in the region.
“We’re trying to get some events in Nashville, some in Little Rock, and shoot for some big festivals. Those are hard to get into, but we’re trying for Bonnaroo, Hang Out Fest, some of the really big festivals and to have the production capability to do the festivals if we get in,” said Taylor.
