COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Partners with Project Let’s Read were on hand at Barnes & Noble Collierville Monday afternoon to announce the results of their spring book drive.
Barnes & Noble Collierville Community Business Development Manager Jennifer Newson arranged an in-store book drive for Project Let’s Read, founded by Towanna Murphy.
Barnes & Noble were able to raise 1,000 books for kids ranging from Pre-K to 2nd grade predominantly in the 38106 and 38109 zip codes of South Memphis.
“We’ve provided a selection of age-appropriate and relevant books behind cash register and with every purchase offered the opportunity to donate to Project Let’s Read and the Enrichment Center,“ says Newson.
F.F.U.N. President Stevie Moore says it’s important for children to have access to books and events designed to keep kids on the right path over the summer months when school is out.
“Let’s support our children. We cannot consistently talk about how our children are bad. We’ve got to step in and help,“ says Moore.
Books from the drive will be handed out at the Enrichment Center grand opening located at 3533 S. Third St. in Memphis June 13, 201,9 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
