MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Memphis police need your help finding a man caught on camera impersonating a police officer.

According to MPD, on August 9, a man wearing a “blackbullet-resistant vest”, walked into 3830 Hickory Hill just before 5:00 p.m.  The vest had Police in bold white letters onthe front and back.

A security guard told officers that before entering the business,the man flashed his lights on the inside of his vehicle, making a customer movefrom the no parking zone, so he could park.

The suspect immediately left the store and drove off in asilver Chevrolet Tahoe when he was asked for his credentials.

Investigators have identified the man as 36-year-old JamesEarl Strickland and have confirmed that he his not a member of law enforcement.

There is now an active felony warrant for Strickland forCriminal Impersonation in addition to previous warrants for Aggravated Assaultand Theft of Property.

Strickland is 6’, medium build. He was last seen wearing the Police vest, burgundy shirt, driving a 2014model silver Tahoe.
