On Newsfeed Now for March 20, our first stop took us to Alabama where there’s talk about starting a state lottery. A bill has been introduced at the State Capitol in Montgomery where one lawmaker estimates the lottery would generate $250 million annually for the state. He wants the money divided up for education and general state needs. WIAT Capitol Reporter Reshad Hudson checked in with full details.

Our focus turned to Tennessee at 5:15 into the program. That’s where a man is battling swine flu, one of the most severe flu strains. Four weeks ago, he was a healthy father of four but now he can barely get out of his hospital bed. WKRN’s Stephanie Langston and Cherish Lombard joined the conversation to tell us his recovery story.

At the 10:25 mark, we showed you a daring rescue in Louisiana that was caught on camera and is now sweeping across the internet. The viral video shows a pregnant woman in a burning truck escaping unharmed thanks to a heroic teen. KLFY’s Renee Allen spoke to both of them and told us what they had to say after the ordeal.

Our final story for the day at 16:15 was one of neighbor helping neighbor after a heartbreaking flood crisis in Nebraska. People in Kansas are joining together to collect donations for devastated families who’ve lost their farms, homes. Even roads have been washed away. KSNW’s Michelle Ross tells us about the people who are answering the call for help.
