MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphs.com) – This is the final week of early voting, and there aren’t many people showing up. The numbers have fallen behind the last city election four years ago.
The drop comes even with all city council seats up for grabs and three big candidates in the mayor’s race.
In 2015, only 20% of registered voters showed up.
“I remain optimistic. I hope there’s a big surge on election day, but realistically we’re probably looking at less than 20%,” said Linda Phillips, Shelby County Election Administrator.
Early voting ends Saturday, September 28. Election day is Thursday, October 3.
