MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- A Mid-South man says he wants to see a change after several recent acts of violence in his community and across the nation.

Keith Leachman’s group “Stop the Killing” held a rally in Orange Mound Saturday.

Leachman says the goal is to stop the killing, bridge the community, and pushing for unity, love, and respect in the city.

He says there is too much politicking and not enough raising each other up.

“We’re trying to bridge the gaps with all the different gang organizations, with all the different religions and churches and denominations. We have to bridge the gaps with the city and the country. We have to bridge the gaps with the Democrats and Republicans,” said Leachman.

Food and drinks were given out to those who attended the event, and school supplies were given to the students in need.

Memphis Police Director Mike Rallings was there in support of the event, and says the department is partnering with the community to do their part to help stop the violence.
