Three arrested following TBI investigation into two drive-by shootings

7-12 – TBI investigation

(TBI NEWS RELEASE) – An investigation by Special Agents with the TennesseeBureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of three men after adrive-by shooting in Fayette County on July 6th and a relateddrive-by shooting in Mason on July 7th.

On July 7th, at the request of 25th DistrictAttorney General Mark Davidson, TBI Agents joined the Fayette County Sheriff’sOffice, Mason Police Department and Tipton County Sheriff’s Office ininvestigating the incidents.  The investigation revealed Ramone Perry andanother individual were involved in a fight in the 1200 block of Wagon WheelDrive in Somerville during a street race in the area, on the evening of July 6th. After the fight, witnesses allege that Perry brandished a weapon and threatenedto kill the other individual.  A short time later, the investigationshowed a related drive-by shooting occurred at a home and business in FayetteCounty.  No one was injured.  A second drive-by shooting occurred inthe early morning hours of July 7th.  In the second incident, ahome was struck by gunfire but no individuals were injured.  Perry (DOB:1/19/83) was arrested by Special Agents and booked into the Fayette County Jailon a count of Aggravated Assault with a $25,000 bond.

During the course of the investigation, Special Agents discovered a weapon and ammunition in the possession of Oscar Goodwin Jr. at his residence in Memphis.  With the assistance of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and Memphis Police Department, Goodwin (DOB: 9/28/86) was arrested on a count of being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Weapon and was booked into the Shelby County Jail with a bond of $10,000.

During Goodwin’s arrest, an associate of his, Ashton Tyler, was found to be in possession of a weapon and marijuana.  Tyler (DOB: 8/10/98) was arrested on one count of Unlawful Carrying or Possession of a Weapon and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance.  He was booked into the Shelby County Jail with a bond of $2,500.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.  Additionalarrests are expected.
