A unified response to COVID-19? Fuhgetaboutit

Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi have handled their responses to COVID-19 in a far from coordinated way, says Local 24 News Anchor Richard Ransom

MEMPHIS, Tennessee — In Wednesday's Ransom Note: the chaos and confusion of COVID.

With no central leadership from Washington, what we're left with is an uncoordinated disaster when it comes to a public policy to beat this thing.

Remember when Tennessee first said they'd only release information about COVID-19 patients by region of the state? Then they decided the public deserved more information. They played the same game with not naming nursing homes and then schools, but finally we'll now know about schools too.

Except in Mississippi whose governor said it'll be up to each school district to release COVID information.

Arkansas hasn't decided about schools reporting COVID data, but it is requiring all  schools to stay open five days a week.

Arkansas and Mississippi now have statewide face mask requirements, but Tennessee says only in certain counties.

Then there's voting. Tennessee had said concern about catching COVID was a valid reason for voting absentee in the primary tomorrow, but now the state supreme court says it isn't for the general election in November. Rarely have we needed leadership more but good luck finding it.
