Opinion | How will you volunteer for MLK Days of Service? | Richard Ransom

Local 24 News Anchor Richard Ransom discusses in his Ransom Note about the start of MLK Days of Service and what events they have planned this year.

MEMPHIS, Tenn — In tonight’s Ransom Note: Caring Like King.

That’s the name for a program organized by Volunteer Memphis with corporate sponsorship ranging from FedEx to Cigna.

They made it as easy as they possibly could despite this pandemic. It started today, laying out things you can do all weekend and on the Dr. King holiday on Monday to give back to our community.

Virtually? There’s everything from panel discussions on conservation to webinars on saving for a down payment on a house, saving for retirement, money management, and even how to make you own masks.

In person? There’s everything from blood drives where you can donate or you can even sign up to help clean the cobblestones along Riverside Drive.

Last year, five-thousand hours of time was donated for the “Care Like King” event.

Let’s see if we can do better this year. Click HERE for more information about signing up.
