Opinion | Lunchflation is real and it's on the rise | Richard Ransom

While we're debating electric or gas cars, Richard Ransom breaks down another thing been taking a big hit.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — While we're debating electric or gas cars, or Amazon versus Walmart, the bottom line is inflation has all of us looking for ways to save money.

One of the things taking the biggest hit? Going out for lunch! They're calling it lunchflation.

The Wall Street Journal reports the cost of wraps is up 18%, sandwiches are up 14%, salads are up 11% and burgers are up 8%.

Restaurants overall are passing the highest increases in 14 years. That doesn't include the cost of gas to get to the restaurant or convenience store to buy your food.

More people are brown-bagging it these days because while to the Bureau of Labor Statistics we're making an average 5% more an hour, it's hard to justify going out for lunch when inflation is eating your lunch.
