MEMPHIS, Tenn. — In Friday's Ransom Note: the pride of voting.
During dinner break tonight, I headed to the AgriCenter to early vote. I was in line only about 20 minutes. The process was smooth, well organized, and safe.
How can we all not feel good about the turnout so far? As we’ve reported, 29,902 early voted in-person today in Shelby County.
Unbelievable numbers and it's happening statewide. Tennessee hasn't released tallies for today yet, but through yesterday 453,746 Tennesseans had voted. Think about that. That's 10% of all registered voters, just two days in. At this rate, actual election day, November 3rd, may be the most ho-hum day of the voting period.
It's good to see that despite the understandable cynicism about politics these days, people still understand and believe voting is the one chance we have to level the playing field. Let's keep shattering those records.
