Memphis Tigers football fans take flight to Texas for the Cotton Bowl

Late into the evening Friday, Tigers fans were still pawing their way to Dallas to cheer on Memphis in the Cotton Bowl.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) — Late into the evening Friday, Tigers fans were still pawing their way to Dallas to cheer on Memphis in the Cotton Bowl.

Memphis International Airport saw quite a few flying Tigers fans taking it down to the wire. Tigers fans streamed through Memphis International all day headed to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl. We caught some fans on the last flight of the day heading through TSA.

On average there are about 8 flights out of Memphis International to Dallas/Ft Worth daily. Some fans booked the last flight to be sure they wouldn’t miss a moment of their Memphis Tigers take on the Nittany Lions of Penn State Friday at AT&T Stadium.

They say it was pretty easy booking late flights for Thursday, but they found them expensive.

It was touch and go for some fans on whether they’d even make it. An American Airlines flight to Dallas was delayed for four and a half hours Friday afternoon. Passengers told us it was due to mechanical issues, but the flight did get on its way.
