One killed after multiple accidents at Thomas and Stage| All lanes now reopened

MPD said all lanes at Stage and Thomas have been reopened.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — UPDATE: MPD confirmed that there was more than one accident at the Thomas and Stage intersection. The first accident involved multiple cars, and the second accident left one pedestrian dead and another victim in critical condition.

MPD said the first accident happened at 5:37 a.m. The second accident happened at 5:43 a.m.

Memphis Police Department blocked all lanes at the intersection of Stage and Thomas while investigating the morning accident scenes. All lanes have since been reopened.


MPD said officers responded to the two accidents at the intersection of Thomas and Stage at 6 a.m.

MFD said there were no injuries reported in the first accident involving three vehicles. 

According to MPD, the pedestrian who was struck in the second accident was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to Regional One Hospital and remains in critical condition. 

MPD said based on preliminary information, the accidents were not related.
