The first snow of the season brought slushy roads and beautiful scenery to East Tennessee

After record highs and severe weather on New Year's Day, we had our first snow of the season Sunday night and Monday morning!

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — **Many roads, especially in our eastern counties, are very slushy. Numerous trees and power lines are also down. Avoid travel if possible and if you have to be out, slow down and use extra caution.**

Check out some of the snow totals from around the area!!

That total of 2.3" of snow at McGhee Tyson Airport is the 2nd highest total on record for January 3rd.

The daily record is 2.4" set back in 1913.

Temperatures will stay chilly today, then drop into the upper teens and low 20s so re-freezing and black ice will be a concern overnight into Tuesday morning. Use extra caution on the roads!

Be safe!
