MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Billy Ray Turner appeared in court Monday, on what was supposed to be the beginning of his trial for the murder of Memphis basketball star Lorenzen Wright. The trial was delayed and will likely happen next year.
Monday was a report date, following a delay last month so the defense could review new evidence it received from prosecutors. Turner’s lawyer doesn’t know if any of the material will change how he will defend the case.
Turner is a co-defendant for the 2010 murder of NBA player Lorenzen Wright. Wright’s ex-wife Sherra Wright pleaded guilty in July to her role in the crime.
Another report date will be held next month, and a trial date is expected to be set then.
