MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – A Memphis man is charged after police say he raped a woman in the restroom of a local store.
20-year-old Jaylan Rodgers is charged with aggravated rape.
According to the police report, it happened just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the restroom of the store in the 1100 block of South Bellevue.
A woman told officers she was in the restroom when Rodgers kicked in the door and demanded sex. She said when she told him no, he told her, “I’m gonna take it if you don’t give it to me.” The woman told police that’s when Rodgers punched her in the face several times, pulled down her pants, and raped her while choking her.
Police say two employees heard the woman’s screams for help and found the woman and Rodgers in the restroom. They said the woman was shaking and crying that Rodgers had just raped her, and he ran out of the store.
Rodgers was located and arrested. No bond has been set and he is due in court Friday.
