Police: Man & girl admit to several car break-ins and thefts in West Memphis & Marion

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (localmemphis.com) – West Memphis police say a man and a girl have been arrested and charged in several break-ins in the city.

Police say Joseph Griffin and the unnamed juvenile girl were spotted early Sunday morning by a patrol lieutenant on his way to work. Investigators say the two fit the description of two people who had run from other officers earlier that morning.

Police say Griffin had a backup on him containing several reported stolen items.

Investigators say Griffin and the girl admitted to being involved in two vehicle burglaries and two thefts that were reported, and several that had not been reported. They say the two also admitted to breaking into several cars in Marion, and investigators forwarded that information to Marion Police.

Griffin and the girl are charged with two counts of theft of vehicle, and two counts of breaking or entering. Police say at the time of his arrest, Griffin was out of jail on pre-trial release for 16 counts of Breaking or Entering. Those cases are still pending prosecution.

The girl was transported to the Crittenden County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police want to warn the public that the two told officers they targeted unlocked vehicle. Police say to remember to remove valuables and to lock your vehicles.
