MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – A 19-year-old Memphis man faces several charges after police say he went on a recent crime spree.
Jamario Dotson is charged with four counts of attempted murder, two counts of attempted aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm during commission/attempt of a dangerous felony.
It all started Monday, September 9th. According to police records, just before 10:00 p.m., a woman said a man approached her in her driveway in the 4900 block of Holy Ridge Drive, pointing a gun at her head and demanding money.
About 30 minutes later in the 4900 block of Lazybrook Cove, a man told police a suspect approached and pointed a gun at him, saying, “Stop. I have a gun,” and “I’ll shoot you.” The victim ran inside his home, and police say the suspect shot into the house where the man’s wife and two young children were sleeping.
Police say about 5:15 p.m. the next day, a woman was in her driveway in the 3700 block of Ardent when a man approached and pointed a gun at her, before firing a shot in the air and running away.
About 30 minutes later, a woman said she was outside her home in the 3200 block of S. Edgeware Rd. when a man pulled out a gun and demanded her money and jewelry. Police say the woman was able to snap a photo of the suspect as he ran away.
Police say they identified Jamario Dotson as the suspect. They say he admitted to being the man in the photo, but denied taking part in a robbery or shooting. Police say all the victims identified Dotson in photo line-ups.
