West Memphis man charged in early morning hostage situation


WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (localmemphis.com) – West Memphis Police say a man is charged after an early morning hostage situation.

Police say they were called to the 100 block of S. 21st St. about 3:00 a.m. Monday. They say it all began as a domestic situation, and when officers arrived, Jerome Jones was reported inside with a rifle, holding two adults and six children hostage.

Jones was taken into custody just before 6:00 a.m. without incident. The adults and children were not hurt. Detectives say they found a shotgun inside the home.

Jones is charged with false imprisonment-1st degree. He is due in court Wednesday.
