2 killed while running from police in Hernando, MS


HERNANDO, Miss. (localmemphis.com) – Two people were killed during a police chase that started in Hernando early Saturday morning.

According to Hernando police, around 4:20 a.m., officers tried to stop a stolen Maroon Nissan Maxima that had multiple people inside.

They ran from police, getting onto I-55 from the southbound exit ramp at Commerce St., driving northbound in the southbound lanes of I-55.

Several of the people in the car were thrown from the vehicle when it hit a guardrail near Mount Pleasant Rd.

20-year-old Kristopher Ford, from Memphis was pronounced dead on the scene.

20-year-old Jessie L. White, also from Memphis, was taken to Baptist DeSoto where he died.

Several other people were taken to area hospitals to be treated for their injuries.

No officers were injured during this incident. 

This is an ongoing investigation.
