Boater’s body recovered from Tennessee River near Pickwick Dam

HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn.—

UPDATE 12:30 p.m.: The body of 56-year-old Jeffery Dilworth was recovered around 10 a.m. Thursday morning.  Officers with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency continue to investigate the boating accident.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officers are investigating a boating accident that happened Wednesday.

A boat believed to have one person in it capsized near the spill gates at Pickwick Dam.  A search is underway for the missing man.

The preliminary investigation indicates that 56-year-old Jeffery Dilworth, from Rienzi, Miss. was fishing alone in a 16-foot aluminum jon boat below Pickwick Dam when his boat was swamped by water. 

Boats from the Hardin County Fire Department and the TWRA searched until dusk on Wednesday and resumed search efforts Thursday morning.
