HORN LAKE, Miss. (localmemphis.com) – Over six feet tall and nearly 300 pounds, Josaih Hayes is big. He’s also fast, and he’s among the top high school football players in the Mid-South, and among the best in the country.
It’s easy to see why college football powerhouses wanted him on their team.
“I got scholarships from Mississippi State, LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, OK State, Oklahoma, Memphis, Tennessee, Florida,” said Hayes.
Fourteen colleges in all offered Hayes a scholarship. Hayes committed to Ole Miss.
“I feel like Ole Miss would be good for me, a good fit and close to home,” said Hayes.
Ole Miss is getting a winner.
“It was mind-blowing bringing the first championship to Horn Lake. And then we went undefeated, so I was happy and excited,” said Hayes.
He’s a tremendous talent. He has received a lot of recognition, but he’s not letting it go to his head.
He’s focused. He’s working hard; watching film and getting stronger to help bring Horn Lake another chip.
“Like my mom said, stay humble and keep God first,” said Hayes.
