MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The Agricenter cut the ribbon Friday on its new commercial teaching kitchen.
The new kitchen includes a demonstration area and goes hand-in-hand with the Agricenter’s garden.
Officials will first take students and guests through the garden so they can see what the different fruits and vegetables look like as they grow. They then head to the kitchen where they will then be able to prepare some neat dishes using the fresh food.
“Part of what our challenge is, as farmers and ranchers, is to make sure people understand where their food and fiber comes from. And that’s what this facility allows us to do. It’s to kind of finish the story and tell it in a way that really resonates to folks,” says Agricenter International President & CEO John Butler.
Officials say it took about a year and a half to develop and build the new teaching kitchen at the Agricenter.
