MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Shelby County school teachers spent Friday getting their classrooms ready for students.
“It’s extremely important to make connections with families and start the year off on the right foot,” says Pre-K teacher Wendi Sutton.
“Make sure the first day they come in, we engage them with learning. Get them started so they have a great year. We want to make the first day count,” says 4th grade math & science teacher Melba Seaborn.
Both Oaks Forest Elementary School teachers spent the day unpacking, decorating, and organizing. They admitted they also get nervous on that first day.
School starts for SCS on August 12th. For more information on Shelby County Schools, CLICK HERE.
