London Zoo is celebrating Pride month in honor of its gay penguins

LONDON (CNN Newsource) – Penguins are celebrating Pride month in London and its famous gay penguin couple, Ronnie and Reggie.

The zoo says, “They remain strong as ever!” A sign that sits outside of the penguins’ habitat reads, “Some penguins are gay. Get over it.” It pays homage to Stonewall’s “Get over it” campaign against LGBT bullying.

To celebrate Ronnie and Reggie and similar animal couples, the zoo is doing a “pride makeover” to its zoo night even on July 5. In addition to regularly scheduled festivities, the zoo will teach about gender, mating, and same-sex animal pairings.

Ronnie and Reggie got together in 2014. A year later, they adopted an egg that was abandoned by another couple, sharing parenting duties of their chick Kyton until he fledged the nest.
