MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The Universal Life Insurance building in downtown Memphis is an iconic landmark, and now one of the rooms inside has been dedicated to an iconic man.
The room will now be known as the Fred Davis Innovation Center.
Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland and the Director of Business Diversity and Compliance for the city were on hand to bestow the honor.
“Fred Davis is an amazing Memphis legend. We’ve talked a lot over the past few years about spending more with minority and women owned businesses. Fred Davis is the father of that whole thought process for the last 30-40 years. His vision is finally being realized by the Memphis community as a whole, to lift up particularly African American owned businesses.”
Davis has been a small business leader in Memphis for more than 50 years.
