MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Kroger is cutting hundreds of management jobs nationwide as it continues to struggle with digital and discount rivals Amazon and Walmart.
Kroger officials wouldn’t say how big the cuts are but did say 22 of its divisions in 35 states were looking at the management jobs in their regions. The jobs are tempting targets because they are well-paid and non-union.
Kroger has been hammered by the costs of home-delivery and store-pickup technologies, as well as the on-going price war in the grocery industry.
It’s unknown how this will affect Kroger stores in the Mid-South.
Kroger has about 450,000 employees nationwide.
