Local Elections

(localmemphis.com) – The Associated Press projects Republican Tate Reeves will face Democrat Jim Hood in the November election.

Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves battled former Mississippi Supreme Court Chief Justice Bill Waller Jr. Reeves for the GOP nod.

Reeves now advances to the November 5th general election to face Jim Hood, the state’s four-term attorney general who is trying to become Mississippi’s first Democratic governor since Ronnie Musgrove was unseated in 2003 after a single term.

Current Governor Phil Bryant is headed to forced retirement due to term limits.
