Sales Tax referendum for MPD & MFD benefits passes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Local 24 News projection: A referendum on Thursday’s ballot in Memphis to hike the sales tax by half-a-percent has passed.

Memphis Police and Firefighters pushed to get the issue on the ballot.

The $54 million expected to be raised would go toward restoring health and pension benefits for MPD and MFD taken away years ago.
