Let’s kick it. The Kick It 5K will take place on Sunday, April 7th at Shelby Farms Park at 1:00 p.m. How this runs helps fight cancer is local good news.
Jeffrey Goldberg is Kosten Foundation President. He’s hoping people of all ages will put on their running shoes for the 9th Annual Kick It 5K.
“It’s truly a great, fun-filled family-oriented event. We have close to two thousand (2,000) people come out,” said Goldberg.
The event includes a 5K run, 1-Mile fun walk, opportunities for spirit runners, entertainment, and food vendors.
“You can just come hang out, enjoy the experience. But, the highlight of the day in the event is our survivor ceremony,” said Goldberg.
While the event promises to be a fun time, it’s for a serious issue. It’s to raise awareness and fund pancreatic cancer research at University of Tennessee Health Science Center. It’s a topic that hits home for Goldberg.
“My late father-in-law, blessed memory, passed of pancreatic cancer. He was a great man,” said Goldberg.
Helping find a cure for pancreatic cancer simply talking a walk or run is a great cause. And, it’s this week’s local good news.
