MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) -Baptist Memorial Health Care joined christ Community Health Services Thursday to continue the gift of giving this holiday with a holiday luncheon for the homeless.
Aside from the food, the two entities provided free medical services and disease management support and prevention information to memphians without permanent housing.
People who work with the homeless were also honored. One woman was overwhelmed and thankful she was able to share the day with her mother.
“Some people don’t have families and friends. And some people have mothers who aren’t living. And I’m glad to be here with my mom. Y’all going to make me cry. I’m glad to be here to spend this moment with my mother because it means so much to me,” said Tonya Richardson.
Baptist, one of Memphis’ largest health care providers for the homeless, has provided free health care to Memphis’ homeless community since 1997.
