Five local groups to receive grants from Philanthropic Black Women of Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Five local groups will receive money to help further their efforts in the community, all thanks to the Philanthropic Black Women of Memphis.

The grant recipients this year are the Code Crew, Pure Youth Athletic Alliance, Binghampton Christian Academy, Rise Foundation, and the Tarik Black Foundation.

Each awardee will receive a grant worth $2,500 to $5,000.

“We focus on education and self-sufficiency, and we are a group of women who decided that we wanted to be able to pool our resources and actually provide grants in areas that were needed,” says Monice Hagler with the Philanthropic Women of Memphis.

The organization has given out more than 20 grants worth nearly $60,000 since its founding in 2005.
