Hundreds of new sports balls donated to Wells Station Elementary School

Local Good News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – It was a big surprise for students at Wells Station Elementary School.

The Landers Auto Group joined with the Mid-South American Heart Association to donate 300 balls to the school. We’re talking about footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, and more.

Officials say someone broke into the school’s storage unit and stole all of the recess equipment over the summer. So this donation comes at a good time.

The kids were very excited.

“We are very grateful for the equipment that ya’ll gave us because we need more equipment so we can play in PE and for recess and just to have fun,” said student Karlie Cherry.

“We’re just very proud to be a part of it, we really are. It does, as you say, make you feel like a kid and smile and feel good about what we’re doing,” said Don Kitchens, Vice President & General Manger of Landers Ford.

This is the second year the Landers Auto Group partnered with the Mid-South American Heart Association for the Drive for Youth Sports campaign.
