American Medical Association urges people to avoid using e-cigarettes after 5 deaths and 450+ cases of lung disease

Local Health Alert

The American Medical Association wants everyone to stop using e-cigarettes. The urgent guidance comes after hundreds of cases of severe lung illnesses and five deaths.

The AMA is also calling on the FDA to fast-track e-cig regulations, get unregulated products off the market, and ban flavored products and marketing to young people.

Health departments report widespread use of cannabis vaping, which may be behind the illnesses. Users should monitor themselves for symptoms like coughing, chest pain, vomiting, and fever.
